Frequently Asked Questions During Registration |
| |
-
Why do I need an academic advisor?
Academic advisors help students with liberal studies questions
and with declaration of major processes. It is important
that students develop a working relationship with advisors
to keep them on target for graduation.
- What do I need to do to complete the registration
process?
Follow the instructions in the letter you received and complete
the Catwalk and Orientation registration process.
If you have questions, contact the Advising Center staff
by email at advising@wcu.edu
or call us at 828-227-7170.
- If I know what I want to major in, can I declare
my major now and get started in the appropriate coursework?
Absolutely! The sooner you declare the better. As you go
through the CatWalk you will be given the opportunity to
declare.
- If I am entering Western as part of the Academic
Success Program, and I am required to enroll in specific
courses, do I still need to choose additional courses on
the New Admit Registration Form?
Yes, because the classes required as part of the Academic
Success Program will not complete a full schedule. By choosing
additional courses, you are letting us know what other areas
you are interested in so we can enroll you in additional
courses.
- When will I receive my fall schedule?
Once your transcipts, immunization, pre-payment registration
for Orientation are received, we will enroll you in classes.
You will receive your schedule at Orienation.
- If I have questions about Financial Aid, can I
contact the Advising Center for help?
Actually, our Financial Aid office is the best resource
to answer specific questions about financial aid. You can
contact their office by email at finaid@wcu.edu
or by phone at 828-227-7170.
